Christine Lancaster - Children's Centre Manager

I have 10 years experience working in pre-school as an assistant and as manager. I led the development of the setting and in my last year there the pre-school achieved an 'outstanding' grading from Ofsted.

I completed my BA(Hons) degree in Early Years Childcare in 2008. I have two teenagers and I love helping children learn and develop whilst having lots of fun. I particularly enjoy messy play activities!

I have a wide variety of experiences in the working world. My initial BA (hons) degree enabled me to become a costume maker for film and theatre. After completing this I moved on to become a secondary school teacher specialising in Design Technology Textiles and I also taught Food Technology, Resistant Materials and Child Development.

I left teaching in 2007 and became a mother to twin girls in March 2008. My daughters inspired me to become more involved with early years and so here I am!!

Having worked with older age groups previously I am keen to try and get a young mums group running at the centre as well as a multiples group due to my own personal experience with my twins. I am really enjoying my time at the centre and look forward to meeting lots of new people!

I am a very busy mum of two and I have been married to Ben for 10 years. I would describe myself as being a bubbly, friendly and approachable person.

I very much enjoyed working with children and their families in my previous role and am excited at the prospect of developing new relationships with our visitors.

I am so very happy to have been given the opportunity to work at Buckland Children's Centre and look forward to meeting you all. If you have any questions, please ask me!

Could you be a creche worker?

The Children's Centre runs a creche from time to time alongside courses and workshops and we therefore need to have qualified creche workers, available to work with us. If you hold an NVQ3 in Childcare and may be interested in occasional extra work please speak to Rachel or Christine for further information. This could be a welcome addition to your cv and very useful for us!
